The Red-eyed tree frog ( Agalychnis Callidryas ) .
This beautiful frog from central America must be seen to be believed. At the moment I am in the process of a breeding program, the photo shows one of my adult females on her travels to the ground level for food. The name Callidryas, is a derivative of the Greek words kallos, meaning "beautiful," and dryas, meaning "tree nymph"; what more can I say.
Since it was first described in 1862 this frog was perfectly named, the beautiful tree nymph. It is without doubt classed (along with some of the Poison dart frogs ( Dendrobates )) as one of the most beautiful frogs or creatures to be seen, and is the poster child for the Amazonian rain forest campaign.
